Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement safety management systems, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct root cause analysis, job hazard analysis, and industrial hygiene assessments to identify and mitigate workplace hazards.
- Develop and administer training programs to enhance employee awareness of occupational safety issues and promote a culture of safety.
- Manage and direct the operations, staff, and activities of the Safety unit, including oversight of safety programs and strategies.
- Develop and maintain a diverse range of policies, procedures, and workforce safety programs and plans, including the Safety Management System (SMS) and the Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTSAP).
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the District's Emergency Preparedness Program, including program modifications to adhere to regulatory requirements.
- Oversee and lead staff in conducting audits and analysis of hazards, workplace injuries, accident investigations, trend analysis, and development of corrective action plans.
- Identify trends and opportunities for the development of safety training programs and recommend management, risk mitigation measures, and strategies to further loss prevention efforts.
- Develop, administer, and control the unit's budget, directing the forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, and supplies.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of safety programs and procedures, assessing and monitoring the distribution of work, support systems, and internal reporting.
- Serve as a liaison to other District departments, divisions, and outside agencies, attending meetings as necessary and providing staff support to committees and task-forces.
- Provide highly complex assistance to the District's Management and staff, developing and reviewing staff reports related to assigned activities and services.
Requirements:
- Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with major coursework in risk management, occupational health, and safety or closely related field.
- Seven (7) years of professional-level experience in workplace safety and risk management, with at least three (3) years of supervisory experience preferably in the public transit sector.
- Knowledge of safety management systems, root cause analysis, job hazard analysis, industrial hygiene, and workplace safety.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to develop and implement safety policies and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, management, and external agencies.
Working Conditions:
- Onsite 5 days a week.
- 40 hours per week.
- Duration of assignment: 3-6 Months.
Pay Rate Range: $75.00-$80.00 Hourly.
Start Date: ASAP.
