Job Responsibilities- Evaluate and treat complex conditions of patients to identify problems and needs, and implement appropriate treatment plans.
- Collaborate with health professionals from other disciplines to ensure comprehensive care and discharge planning.
- Maintain adequate levels of supplies and materials, and ensure proper functioning of equipment.
- Participate in meetings and implement and maintain proper standards of physical therapy practice.
- Guide support staff in rendering routine patient care, and provide teaching, guidance, and direction to less experienced therapists.
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of training and educational activities for departmental staff and others.
- Evaluate student performance and provide oral and written reports and guidance for improvement.
- Participate in classes, conferences, and workshops to stay up-to-date on recent developments in clinical specialties.
- Prepare and submit reports and statistics on a regular and timely basis.
All candidates must have a valid Physical Therapy License and current registration issued by the New York State Department of Education, and one of the following:
- A Baccalaureate Degree with a major in Physical Therapy accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), and two years of full-time experience administering physical therapy under professional supervision.
- A Master's Degree in Physical Therapy accredited by the APTA with a Baccalaureate Degree in an unrelated discipline, and two years of full-time experience administering physical therapy under professional supervision.
- A Baccalaureate Degree and a Master's Degree, both with a major in Physical Therapy accredited by the APTA, and one year of full-time experience administering physical therapy under professional supervision.
- A satisfactory combination of education and experience equivalent to (1), (2), or (3).
