We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our team as an Assistant Physicist in the Physics Division at Argonne National Laboratory. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic research group focused on experimental nuclear/atomic physics, with a strong emphasis on precision experiments and fundamental symmetry tests.

Research Focus

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nuclear physics or atomic physics, with a research program that aligns with the 2023 Long Range Plan for Nuclear Physics. The successful candidate will be expected to support and advance the ongoing research program of the Fundamental Symmetries Group and develop an innovative research plan to further enhance the reach of experimental fundamental symmetries tests.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct research in experimental nuclear/atomic physics, with a focus on precision experiments and fundamental symmetry tests.
  • Develop and implement new research ideas and approaches to advance the field of nuclear physics.
  • Collaborate with other researchers and scientists to achieve research goals and objectives.
  • Present research findings at conferences and workshops, and publish results in peer-reviewed journals.
Requirements
  • PhD in Nuclear Physics or Atomic Physics or a closely related field.
  • Ability to model Argonne's core values of impact, safety, respect, integrity, and teamwork.
  • Minimum of 2 years of research experience as a postdoctoral or equivalent appointee.
  • Previous research experience in precision experiments and fundamental symmetry tests using cold or ultra-cold atoms or molecules.
