These professionals engineer secure, comprehensive solutions.They create the bespoke software that processes all creative content, the tools utilized by providers to distribute that media, as well as the server-side systems and APIs for numerous Apple services.

Despite the growing significance of services within Apple's business model, these teams remain compact, agile, and cross-functional, providing greater exposure to a variety of opportunities.
The Core Services team at Apple Services Engineering (ASE) is on the lookout for an engineering manager to guide a team dedicated to developing scalable and innovative features that captivate hundreds of millions of users globally across platforms such as App Store, Apple Arcade, Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Books, Podcasts, MusicKit, and iTunes.
We will collaborate on the online content system that supplies catalog metadata and editorial data to support all our services, as well as the indexing processes that integrate entities into the online content system.
Your role will involve discovering inventive methods to integrate various technologies while navigating the complexities of the CAP theorem and evaluating performance through median, 95th, and 99th percentiles.
Collaboration across functions will be essential to ascertain the content metadata required for upcoming features, followed by modeling the entities into our online content system.
Additionally, we will focus on a data transformation platform operating on Spark to deliver our catalog metadata to internal teams like Shazam and Siri, as well as external partners, enhancing our services on third-party platforms.
Your expertise with various Big Data technologies will be crucial in efficiently delivering millions of updates to numerous consumers in a timely manner.
Working alongside third-party partners, you will assess their requirements and propose effective solutions.As a team leader, you will establish a vision and roadmap for the team, collaborate with like-minded professionals to devise solutions and architectures, and implement project plans to fulfill these objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:- Proven experience in leading and developing a team, including recruitment and performance management.
- Ability to provide hands-on technical leadership, including mentoring and motivating engineers.
- Experience managing complex engineering projects from conception to deployment.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of articulating complex ideas and making persuasive arguments.
- Effective collaboration with engineers, product managers, designers, and partners.
- Passion for in-depth technical and product discussions, with attention to detail and the ability to switch contexts across multiple projects.
- Capability to envision the big picture, establish a vision, and develop the team and platform accordingly.
- Hands-on experience with scalable web services and features that involve cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical skills combined with a profound understanding of data structures and algorithms.
- Familiarity with Big Data technologies such as Spark and the Hadoop ecosystem.
- Experience with NoSQL data stores like Solr, Elastic Search, Redis, Memcached, Cassandra, and Voldemort.
- Proficiency in Java; knowledge of other JVM or functional languages like Clojure is advantageous.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
Compensation & Benefits:
At Apple, base pay is just one component of our comprehensive compensation package, determined within a specified range.
The base pay range for this position is between $181,000 and $313,000, with actual pay depending on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees have the opportunity to become shareholders through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.Employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
