Overview:
The invasive cardiovascular technologist plays a crucial role in patient care by utilizing specialized equipment under the supervision of a qualified physician. This position involves performing procedures that lead to accurate diagnoses and effective treatments for congenital or acquired heart conditions, all while ensuring maximum patient safety and comfort.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist medical staff by employing sterile techniques during all invasive cardiovascular procedures, including angioplasty. Prepare surgical trays and materials for procedures. 2. Monitor patients' hemodynamic status and ECG, collecting and entering vital information into the monitoring system, and generating reports upon procedure completion. 3. Conduct pre-procedure interviews to gather medical histories, review lab results, educate patients and families about the procedure, and secure informed consent. 4. Prepare the cath lab prior to testing, ensuring all equipment is calibrated and daily quality assurance checks are performed. 5. Position patients appropriately, connect monitoring devices, perform ECGs, prep access sites, and document all actions in the patient's medical record. 6. Assist cardiologists with arterial closure devices, demonstrating competence in sheath removal and achieving hemostasis. 7. Serve as a resource for staff regarding the use and troubleshooting of complex technical equipment and supplies. 8. Collect data for relevant cardiac catheterization databases. 9. Participate in various duties as needed, including inventory management, quality improvement initiatives, patient transport, scheduling, initiating IV therapy, and evaluating new products and equipment. 10. Be available for on-call duties as scheduled for emergency procedures, including diagnostic and interventional tasks. 11. Meet the organization's expectations regarding quality, service, teamwork, self-development, and community engagement. 12. Adhere to all compliance responsibilities associated with the role. 13. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
High School Diploma/GED. Basic computer skills, proficiency in interpreting EKGs, and understanding hemodynamic pressure readings. Experience in endovascular, interventional, and diagnostic procedures.
Preferred:
Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification. Familiarity with permanent pacemaker and defibrillator implants.
Compensation:
