Mental Health Support Specialist

UC Davis Health System is seeking a skilled Mental Health Worker to join our team. As a Mental Health Worker, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients. You will work under the direction of a Registered Nurse to assist with patient observation, care, and support.
Key Responsibilities- Provide observation and support to patients to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Assist with patient care activities, such as feeding, hygiene, and organizing activities.
- Work with the nursing staff to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Participate in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to manage patient behavior.
- Maintain a clean and safe hospital environment.
- De-escalation/behavioral health training, MAB Certification, or CPI Certification.
- American Heart Association (AHA) BLS CPR or UCDH-issued CPR Certification.
- One (1) year experience in an Inpatient hospital setting.
- Ability to read and write in English language.
- Ability to use a computer, keyboard, and/or mouse to appropriately utilize healthcare systems for documentation, communication, training/education and completion of schedule/timecard.
- Oral communication skills to effectively deal with patients, visitors, patients and staff.
- Ability to maintain courteous, tactful relationships with visitors, patients and clinicians.
- Ability to adjust workload under changing conditions and remains confidential with all patient information.
- Must be able to safely lift 25 pounds and assist in movement of patients and supplies exceeding 25 pounds.
- Performs routine duties which do not require special skills or training. In addition, performs tasks requiring special skills or training acquired through formal or on the job training but which do not require special licensure.

- Pushing/Pulling over 50 lbs - Occasional Up to 3 Hours
- Bending/Stooping - Continuous 6 to 8+ Hours
- Squatting/Kneeling - Occasional Up to 3 Hours
- Twisting - Continuous 6 to 8+ Hours
- Climbing (e.g., stairs or ladders) - Occasional Up to 3 Hours
- Reaching overhead - Occasional Up to 3 Hours
- Keyboard use/repetitive motion - Frequent 3 to 6 Hours
