Job Title: Long Term Substitute Speech Language Pathologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Long Term Substitute Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at the Schenectady City School District. As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will play a vital role in supporting the linguistic and educational needs of our students.

Job Summary:

The Speech Language Pathologist will work closely with teachers, parents, and school leaders to develop plans and strategies to support students with communication disorders. This position requires a high degree of culturally responsiveness, continuous reflection, and creativity when addressing the needs of students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide speech-language services to students across all levels, including Pre-K, elementary, middle, junior high, and high schools.
  • Assess and diagnose communication disorders, including language, articulation, fluency, voice/resonance, and swallowing disorders.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address the unique needs of each student.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure that students receive comprehensive support.
  • Participate in data-based decision making, including gathering and interpreting data to inform instruction and intervention.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state mandates, as well as local policies, in the performance of duties.
  • Engage in continuous self-care and professional development to stay current with best practices in the field.
Requirements:
  • NYS certification as a Speech Language Pathologist (Speech Therapist) is required.
  • Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university.
  • CSE experience preferred.
  • Experience working in schools and with children preferred.
