About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled COBOL Programmer Lead to join our team at NexonIT LLC. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for leading the development of new COBOL business functions and troubleshooting, modification, and enhancement of existing COBOL functions in a multi-tiered architecture.

Scope of the Project

The successful candidate will work closely with our SC Driver Services Business analysts to develop technical approaches and designs, code, test, and support COBOL functions. You will be involved in the development of business logic supporting online systems, batch programming, data extraction, and reports related to SCDMV Driver Services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and troubleshoot assigned system problems
  • Propose solutions and develop technical specifications in response to business requirements
  • Code, test, promote, and interact with impacted users ensuring that solution meets requirements
  • Provide daily and weekly status to the development manager
Requirements
  • Working knowledge of South Carolina Driver laws, rules, and regulations as presented in SC Code of Laws part 56
  • Direct knowledge of American Association of Motor Vehicles Administrators (AAMVA) Commercial and non-commercial driver processing
  • Current and relevant COBOL development with MICROFOCUS Visual COBOL using Visual Studio 2019-2022 in Windows Server 2022 under IIS
  • Application programming against RDBMS (Oracle, SQL)
  • SQL for Oracle DB
  • Calling COBOL via Microsoft Windows Web Services
  • Microsoft Windows web service design and implementation
  • Enterprise multi-tier system design and architecture
Education
  • Prefer Bachelors Degree in Information Technology related discipline with 12 years of experience minimum 14 years related experience
