The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced attorney to join our Utility and Energy Practice in New York or Philadelphia. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience practicing before a State Public Utility Commission, preferably the NJ Board of Public Utilities. Experience with renewable energy, including solar and offshore wind, is highly desirable. Candidates with prior work experience in government or utility/energy companies are encouraged to apply. Admission to the NJ bar is required, with NY and/or PA preferred. This is a hybrid position, requiring three days in office per week.

About the Role:

As a Regulatory Affairs Specialist in our Utility and Energy Practice, you will guide clients through complex regulatory approvals by state public utility commissions and other federal and state regulatory agencies. You will represent clients in utility- and energy-related transactions, litigation, enforcement actions, and regulatory proceedings. Our clients include public utilities, renewable and clean energy companies, infrastructure investment funds, power producers, competitive retail suppliers, municipalities, municipal authorities, large institutional and manufacturing consumers, technology companies, and corporate clients. We also handle matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) involving complex regulatory issues.

Key Responsibilities:

Advise clients on regulatory compliance and risk managementRepresent clients in regulatory proceedings and litigationDevelop and implement strategic plans for regulatory approvalsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve client goals

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:At least five years of experience practicing law, preferably before a State Public Utility Commission

Experience with renewable energy, including solar and offshore windStrong knowledge of regulatory laws and regulationsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills

Salary: $140,000 - $160,000 per year, depending on experience and location
