Seeking a Neuro PCU/Stepdown Registered Nurse
Role Summary
As a Neuroscience Progressive Care Registered Nurse, you will elevate the standard of care by delivering clinical expertise and exceptional patient support in a compassionate environment. In this role, you will manage a diverse patient population with neurological conditions affecting the brain, spine, and nervous system.
Our facility is recognized as a Level 1 Comprehensive Stroke Center, a Primary Stroke Center, and a Level 4 Epilepsy Center, providing extensive support and rehabilitation services for stroke and neurological conditions. The dynamic and high-acuity environment allows you to collaborate with a dedicated team of nursing professionals committed to excellence in patient care.
Patient Demographics
The typical patient population includes individuals with traumatic brain injuries, brain tumors, post-spinal surgery cases, subdural and subarachnoid hemorrhages, ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, and other complex medical conditions.
Educational Requirements
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required, as we are a Magnet-designated facility. An Associate Degree in Nursing (A.D.N) may be considered with Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) approval, provided the candidate is enrolled in a BSN program within six months of hire and completes it within 24 months.
Licensure and Certifications
Current Texas RN or Compact State Licensure is mandatory. Candidates must also possess ACLS and BLS certifications, with PALS certification required within six months of employment.
Experience Requirements
A minimum of one year of experience in Stepdown, Progressive Care, PCU, or Intermediate Care nursing within an acute care setting is essential, with two years of neuro experience preferred. Basic knowledge of intravenous drip management and EKG interpretation is also required.
