Job Summary:

This role leads a team of mechanical designers to create models, assemblies, and drawings for complex electromechanical systems. The CAD Engineering Manager is responsible for establishing design standards, processes, and workflow with identified KPIs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead the CAD team, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to team members.
  • Develop and implement CAD standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure consistency and efficiency across the organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and ensure accurate and timely delivery of CAD designs.
  • Evaluate and recommend new CAD software, add-ins, tools, and technologies to enhance productivity and innovation within the team.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends, regulations, and best practices, and incorporate these insights into CAD processes and projects.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members, helping them to develop their CAD skills and contribute effectively to the team.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations in all CAD designs.
  • Act as a liaison between the Engineering team and other departments, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
  • Overall management of CAD data management platform, e.g. PDM Pro, 3dxperience, for governance, access rules, leveraging the platform to maximize impact to the business, and strategy for growth and collaboration internally and externally.
  • Implement procedures to ensure the accuracy and integrity of design deliverables.
  • Provide input on project resource requirements.
  • Perform engineering change activities in PLM.

Requirements:

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent.
  • 10+ years working on engineering design teams, preferably with complex electromechanical systems.
  • Experience leading teams.

Technical Skills:

  • Expert in SolidWorks 3D modeling and 2D drafting highly desirable. SolidWorks certification desirable.
  • Advanced and specialized knowledge and skills in designing machined and fabricated assemblies, including advanced knowledge of machining practice and fabrication techniques (welding, forming, etc.) for a variety of materials.
  • Expert in the application of GD&T.
  • Knowledgeable of ASME/ANSI standards.
  • Experience with DFMA is desirable.
  • Expert in machine design best practices.
  • Experienced in Tolerance Analysis techniques.
  • PDM Pro/3dxeperience administration desirable.
  • Familiarity with ECAD practices and integration into mechanical design.
  • Experienced in the use of PLM (Product Lifecycle Management).
