About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Cyber Risk Management Expert to join our Cyber Risk Management & Communication team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in risk assessments, knowledge of NIST SP 800-53 security controls, and experience conducting regular reviews of audit logs using the Enterprise Logging System.

Responsibilities
  • Identify strategic risk through collaborative working efforts with senior management, SCAs, ISSMs, ISSOs, system owners, and other applicable teams.
  • Develop and maintain a risk tolerance level by working with senior management to formally establish the level of acceptable risk.
  • Create a strategic risk picture and maintain the risk tolerance level.
  • Conduct reviews and approvals of risk acceptance memorandums.
  • Assist with the prioritization of POA&Ms and create risk profiles for all CBP information systems.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Cyber Security, or related field.
  • 4 to 8 years of related experience. Additional years of experience and cyber certifications may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Knowledge/experience conducting Risk Assessments.
  • Familiarity with NIST SP 800-37 Risk Management Framework and NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
  • Experience with Digital Guardian, CrowdStrike, Axonius, Microsoft Power BI, and Splunk queries.
Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Experience in Vulnerability scanning and analysis.
  • Experience in financial, CSP, and FISMA audits.
  • Well-rounded Cyber SME.

This is a critical need position within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Security Operations Center (SOC). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for identifying strategic risks, developing and maintaining a risk tolerance level, and creating a holistic picture of cyber risks in the CBP environment.
