As a Referral Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring seamless referrals and prior authorizations for specialty visits and services.

Job Summary

The Referral Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all outgoing and incoming referrals, prior authorizations, and appointments. This includes verifying insurance eligibility, submitting referrals and prior authorizations, and documenting appointment information on the Electronic Health Record (EHR). The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, with strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with primary care practices, specialty practices, referring physicians, and other stakeholders.

Charles River Community Health is a comprehensive practice providing medical, pharmacy, dental, behavioral health, optical, and vision services to diverse underserved local communities. We serve over 13,500 patients annually, with 90% being low-income individuals and 70% requiring services in a language other than English. Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all outgoing and incoming referrals, prior authorizations, and appointments
  • Verify insurance eligibility and submit referrals and prior authorizations
  • Document appointment information on EHR
  • Collaborate with primary care providers to resolve issues related to specialist availability and patient needs
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance company requirements and accepted locations
  • Function as a resource for information and problem-solving for patients, primary care providers, referral management program staff, specialists, and Health Center staff

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Detail-oriented with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with referral management plans and computer skills preferred
  • Team-oriented with a strong commitment to helping others
