ROLE SUMMARY
Under the supervision of a licensed healthcare professional, the Medical Assistant plays a vital role in supporting patient care as detailed in the responsibilities outlined below. This position operates in alignment with ADAPT Community Network's policies, applicable regulatory standards, and professional guidelines.
Compensation: $21.94/hour plus an array of industry-leading benefits.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Medical Assistant's responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to:
- Providing both administrative and clinical support to ensure effective patient care, including monitoring weight and vital signs.
- Assisting healthcare providers in delivering high-quality patient services.
- Upholding standards of patient care and maintaining accurate and confidential clinic records.
- Facilitating the completion of evaluations and referrals as necessary.
- Executing clinical tasks and other assignments as directed.
- Accurately implementing directives from healthcare professionals.
- Supporting the Administrative Assistant in managing medical files, records, and procurement processes.
- Coordinating the collection of blood, urine, cultures, and tissue samples with external laboratories.
- Maintaining a comprehensive logbook.
- Ensuring timely delivery of laboratory reports to the appropriate clinicians.
- Managing and sterilizing clinical instruments.
- Performing phlebotomy tasks as assigned.
- Copying medical records and necessary documentation as required.
- Assisting in the billing and coding processes under the guidance of the Clinic Administrator.
- Ensuring that necessary supplies and equipment are readily available for clinical staff.
- Contributing to the planning and implementation of clinic improvements.
- Participating in the Quality Assurance Program as mandated.
- Maintaining a clean and safe environment in accordance with infection control policies.
- Demonstrating sensitivity and responsiveness to the cultural differences of the populations served.
- Completing any additional tasks assigned by the Clinic Administrator.
- Reviewing training and competencies related to AMAP, GT feeding, and catheterization.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program in New York State.
- Preferred: Minimum of 6 months of experience as a Medical Assistant in a healthcare setting.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is highly advantageous.
