Job Summary:
The State of Kansas is seeking a skilled Cook to join our team at Parsons State Hospital and Training Center. As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food for residents and meeting ICF requirements by preparing physician-directed special diets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook food for residents in accordance with established recipes and guidelines.
- Meet ICF requirements by preparing physician-directed special diets for residents.
- Learn and follow instructions and procedures for food preparation and service.
- Understand and follow standard recipes and cooking techniques.
- Perform basic math computations and accurately weigh and measure ingredients.
- Work long hours in rooms at high temperatures.
Requirements:
- One year of experience in commercial or institutional cooking preferred.
- Education may be substituted as determined relevant by the agency.
- Valid Kansas driver's license required for staff who operate a motor vehicle.
- Pass a law enforcement security clearance in compliance with policies of the Department of Aging and Disability Services.
Working Conditions:
The Cook will work in a fast-paced kitchen environment with frequent exposure to heat, steam, and noise. The ability to work long hours in a hot kitchen environment is essential.
