Job Summary

The Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to join our primary care team. As a key member of our medical staff, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to our diverse patient population.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide primary care medical services to patients, including obstetrics, family planning, newborn care, pediatrics, and general adult care.
  • Meet minimum patient care productivity requirements to ensure high-quality care and meet the needs of our patients.
  • Provide continuous, comprehensive, and culturally sensitive healthcare to patients, including education, medications, referrals, diagnostic testing, and follow-up care.
  • Participate in case management to ensure seamless care coordination and patient outcomes.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision of support staff and participate in medical staff, OB, QA/QI meetings, and other committees to improve patient care and center operations.
  • Supervise students and residents in the healthcare professions and participate in community groups or agencies to enhance the center's integration into the community.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including handling protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Requirements
  • Completion of a family nurse practitioner or physician assistant training program approved by the State of Oregon.
  • Licensure by the State of Oregon by the Board of Nursing or the Board of Medical Examiners and DEA registration.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)/Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred, with a willingness to become sufficiently competent in Spanish to provide medical care.

Working Conditions

The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will work in a well-lighted, ventilated environment, with exposure to blood-borne pathogens and potentially hazardous chemicals. The position requires standing, walking, sitting, and lifting/carrying, with occasional physically demanding tasks.

  • Medical equipment, including stethoscopes, ophthalmoscopes, otoscopes, dopplers, surgical/procedural instruments, and routine medical equipment.
