Position Overview
The Custodial Services Associate is responsible for performing essential manual tasks related to the upkeep and cleanliness of campus facilities. This role involves maintaining a hygienic environment within the buildings and ensuring that all areas are presentable and safe for use.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute cleaning, waxing, and polishing of floors, restrooms, and showers using appropriate techniques and equipment.
- Dust and polish furniture, woodwork, and metallic fixtures.
- Replace light bulbs and carry out minor repairs on furnishings and equipment.
- Manage waste disposal, including trash collection and recycling efforts.
- Assist in snow removal and maintain walkways at building entrances.
- Rearrange furniture as necessary for events and special occasions.
- Communicate supply needs to ensure timely ordering and delivery of cleaning materials.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Adhere to safety protocols to minimize risks and comply with regulations.
- Lock and unlock facilities as required.
Daily Duties
- Complete custodial work orders and document additional tasks performed.
- Submit completed work orders to the supervisory staff for processing.
- Operate university vehicles for transporting supplies or furniture as needed.
Qualifications
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Preferred experience includes a minimum of three months in a custodial role.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions effectively.
- Competence in operating cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners and scrubbing machines.
- Capability to safely use ladders and perform physical tasks.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with a diverse community.
