Position Overview:
Title: Customs/Trade Analyst - 2 Openings
Location: Abbott Park, IL
Duration: 3 Months (potential for extension)
Role Purpose and Key Responsibilities:
- The selected candidate will focus on ensuring compliance with customs regulations and trade laws, overseeing document control, and supporting manufacturing identification and various data sets. The role involves auditing import/export items from a customs perspective.
- Responsibilities include gathering information on export destinations and coordinating with multiple departments to evaluate and select pertinent files. Experience in this area is beneficial, but training will be provided for those new to the field. Knowledge of export and import coding is essential.
Exempt/Non-Exempt Status: Non Exempt
Required Skills:
- Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficient in managing multiple priorities and effective time management.
Essential Skills:
- Proficiency in Excel, ACE, and Word.
- Understanding of classified goods.
- Strong communication skills.
- Familiarity with customs regulations and trade laws, including 19CFR, 15CFR, FDA, USDA, and other US regulatory agency requirements.
Educational Background:
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Business, Logistics/Transportation, or related fields.
- Associate degree acceptable.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in trade compliance is required.
Key Duties:
- Provide technical and analytical support for customs and trade compliance at the site/division level, ensuring adherence to all relevant customs regulations and trade laws.
- Utilize knowledge of import/export regulations to support business operations.
- Analyze import/export data to identify potential risks or savings opportunities.
- Prepare reports and offer recommendations to management as necessary.
- Collaborate with related functional areas (logistics, purchasing, materials management, etc.) on customs issues.
- Offer analytical support for reporting price adjustments, royalties, etc., through the CBP Reconciliation Prototype Program.
- Conduct thorough reviews/audits of all import/export records in a timely manner.
- Address and escalate issues that require correction.
