Core Responsibilities:

The Safety and Environmental Specialist will focus on advancing and refining safety and environmental protocols within the organization. This role entails the development, organization, and management of comprehensive safety and environmental training records. Key duties include: collaborating on safety and operational procedures; conducting audits of facility conditions and employee practices; gathering, analyzing, and reporting on safety and environmental performance metrics; ensuring adherence to regulatory standards; and engaging in corporate safety initiatives. Additionally, this position will involve liaising with external auditors and regulatory inspectors as needed.

At Nucor, safety is paramount across all operations; therefore, candidates must exhibit a strong capability to initiate, lead, and maintain safety policies, practices, and cleanliness standards consistently.

Essential Qualifications:
  1. A bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field, or a minimum of five years of relevant safety experience in an industrial setting.
  2. Willingness to be on call around the clock and travel as necessary.

  1. Environmental Stewardship: Advocates for environmental responsibility while ensuring compliance with all site regulations through adherence to Nucor's environmental policies.

Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Prior experience in a safety or environmental coordination role.
  2. Certification in Safety or Emergency Services.
  3. Familiarity with OSHA regulations and VPP programs.
