Work Schedule: Overnight Shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM

Role Overview:

The respiratory therapist is responsible for delivering routine, emergency, and critical cardiopulmonary care under physician supervision to patients across all age groups, including neonatal (if applicable), pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. This role requires adherence to compliance standards and regulations set forth by local, state, and federal agencies, as well as accrediting bodies. The therapist will actively engage in exceptional customer service and foster respectful relationships with all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the provision of cardiopulmonary care in alignment with established policies and procedures. Ensure effective assessment and reassessment of patient conditions by monitoring progress and recommending adjustments to care plans based on documented medical necessity.
  • Provide guidance and support to patients before, during, and after treatment. Address and mitigate any adverse effects while adjusting therapies in accordance with established protocols and clinical criteria.
  • Initiate and manage mechanical ventilation, determining appropriate modes and settings. Conduct regular evaluations of patient-ventilator interactions and respond to alarms as necessary.
  • Perform arterial blood gas analysis and manage arterial line placements, making informed adjustments to respiratory care based on results.
  • Respond to critical situations, including emergencies such as Code STEMI and Code Blue, ensuring airway management and performing CPR as needed.
  • Support cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures, which may include cardiac stress testing, holter monitor setups, electrocardiograms, pulmonary function tests, and electroencephalograms.

Qualifications:

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Must hold registration from the National Board for Respiratory Care.
  • Possess a valid Florida RRT or CRT license; if CRT licensed, a minimum of four years of experience is required.
  • At least one year of experience in a critical care environment.
