Position Overview:

The Pharmaceutical Care Specialist is dedicated to the consistent application of expertise and competencies to provide safe, effective, and economical pharmaceutical services tailored to their specific role. This position emphasizes patient care and the establishment of collaborative, professional relationships within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Work Schedule:

7 days on, 7 days off night shift (currently from 8 PM to 7 AM with a 30-minute meal break)

Key Responsibilities:

As a Pharmaceutical Care Specialist, your responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the availability and integrity of medications for patient administration.
  • Monitoring pharmacy inventory to reduce waste, ensuring doses are accessible for patients, and appropriately recycling IV solutions.
  • Providing drug information to healthcare professionals.
  • Verifying the accuracy of pharmacy technician and pharmacist work.
  • Preparing and ensuring the availability of compounded, extemporaneous, and prepackaged medications in accordance with current best practices and regulatory standards.
  • Delivering clinical pharmacotherapy services, which encompass patient medication counseling, participation in multidisciplinary patient care rounds, reviewing medication administration records, monitoring and reporting adverse drug reactions, reporting medication errors, and providing pharmacokinetic dosing services.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or equivalent, required.
  • A minimum of six (6) months of relevant experience, required.
  • Current pharmacy licensure in the state of practice, required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in an inpatient acute care pharmacy setting.

Physical Demands:

This role requires the ability to perform various physical activities including carrying, climbing, crawling, hearing, lifting, manual dexterity, pulling, pushing, seeing, speaking, squatting, kneeling, standing, and walking.

Compensation:

The hourly wage for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience.
