Billings Flying Service (BFS) is a premier solutions provider in the aviation sector, focusing on CH-47 aerial firefighting and heavy lift operations.
With over 35 years of expertise in both fixed-wing and rotorcraft, BFS is adept at addressing complex aviation challenges.
Since its inception, BFS has deployed firefighting helicopters globally, including regions such as South America, Asia, and North America. The fleet, comprising CH-47Ds and UH-60As, is equipped to combat wildfires using both bucket and tank methods. Aircraft maintenance is conducted through BFS's FAA 145 repair station, supported by a skilled workforce.
BFS operates a certified maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility, recognized by FAA 145, AS9110, and Boeing, specifically for the CH-47 Chinook.
This facility, established to enhance the BFS Chinook fleet, also caters to commercial CH-47 clients, the military, and international defense forces.
The focus of the facility includes CH-47 drivetrain, dynamics, hydraulics, actuation, and flight control systems.About the Role
We are in search of a Helicopter Maintenance Technician to assist in the operations of our CH-47 fleet.
Extended travel may be required, with accommodations and per diem provided by the employer.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain effective communication with the crew supervisor to provide updates on aircraft maintenance activities and plan for future maintenance tasks.
- Execute and document maintenance and modifications on aircraft airframes, engines, and components in accordance with BFS's Maintenance Procedures Manual, approved inspection programs, manufacturer’s maintenance manuals, and relevant federal regulations.
- Ensure that all company aircraft meet the airworthiness standards set forth by applicable regulations.
- Provide after-hours maintenance support for assigned aircraft as needed.
- Accurately document and address aircraft discrepancies during revenue service and major inspections.
- Ensure all maintenance records and associated documentation are completed and maintained in compliance with BFS policies and federal regulations.
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of federal aviation regulations, maintenance procedures, operations manuals, and other relevant documentation.
- Ensure that all company and personal calibrated tools are within their calibration limits when utilized.
- Maintain company-owned Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Proficient in reading and writing English.
- Must pass security background checks and be willing to travel as required.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Valid driver's license is mandatory.
- Current FAA Airframe & Powerplant License is essential.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and utilize hand and finger dexterity, including climbing and bending, often in challenging environments.
- Ability to lift, push, or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Awareness of working near moving mechanical parts and exposure to various environmental conditions.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working on CH-47D or other Boeing aircraft types is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- FAA A&P License and experience with rotorcraft.
