Key Responsibilities- Manage health problems and coordinate healthcare for patients in accordance with state and federal regulations and nursing standards of care.
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Develop and implement effective healthcare plans, including administering medication, therapies, and treatments.
- Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests to inform patient care.
- Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
- Provide medical assessment and interventions to patients as needed.
- Monitor the effectiveness of interventions and make adjustments as necessary.
- Facilitate patient transitions within and between healthcare settings.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure seamless patient care.
- Document patient care in the electronic health record.
- At least five years of clinical experience, with a minimum of two years in the Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant role.
- Computer experience using Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office software products.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records.
- Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities.
- Detail-oriented and strong management and leadership skills.
- Empathy for patients and their families.
- Ability to deal with stress and maintain a professional demeanor.
- Certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- Licensed to practice in the State of Maine.
The work environment is primarily a typical physician's office setting, with a quiet noise level. Potential exposure to hazardous and infectious materials, including blood-borne pathogens, is a consideration.
