Compensation: $20.00 per hour


Position Summary:

The Ice Hockey Instructor is responsible for imparting essential skills required for ice hockey, ensuring that participants enjoy and benefit from their experience at Sharks Ice Fremont.


Work Schedule:

  • Shifts are flexible based on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and execution of practice plans for recreational hockey leagues.
  • Familiarize oneself with USA Hockey guidelines for age-appropriate skill development.
  • Arrive punctually for scheduled assignments.
  • Support volunteer coaches in setting up practice sessions and organizing teaching materials.
  • Ensure practices are engaging, enjoyable, and well-structured.
  • Keep participants active and involved through varied drills and on-ice activities.
  • Provide equitable instruction to all students.
  • Oversee players and volunteers during practice times.
  • Encourage the development of social skills among participants.
  • Maintain open communication with parents and players regarding progress.
  • Promote additional on-ice sessions through Sharks Ice camps and clinics.
  • Assist players with their equipment as necessary.
  • Encourage new registrations and support re-enrollment efforts.
  • Stay updated on the latest hockey regulations and trends.
  • Advocate for the Pro Shop offerings.
  • Adhere to all facility rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Be knowledgeable about emergency protocols for equipment and facility evacuation.

Qualifications:

  • Must wear the assigned uniform during all shifts.
  • Availability to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Demonstrated success as a player or coach in ice hockey.
  • Ability to engage positively with youth and adults, fostering strong customer relationships.
  • Solid understanding of ice hockey and local youth programs.
  • Capability to endure extended periods of skating and standing while providing instruction.
