Position Overview

Department: Surgical Intermediate Care (IMC) unit
Schedule: Full Time Day Shift - 7am - 7:30pm; Three 12 hr shifts with every 3rd weekend and rotating holidays for coverage
Hospital: Ascension St. Vincent
Location: Indianapolis, IN

Unit Description

This unit is designed for high acuity patients transitioning from ICU. The patient demographic includes individuals recovering from complex procedures such as heart surgeries, transplants, and other significant interventions. Experience with telemetry and surgical patient care is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

The Patient Care Technician will assist in delivering basic clinical and non-clinical patient care under supervision. Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting patient mobility and positioning.
  • Assisting patients with personal care and daily living activities.
  • Monitoring and reporting changes in patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff, while maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Ensuring patient rooms are clean and orderly, and maintaining medical equipment.
Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire or transfer. Acceptable certifications include those from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Education:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, or 1 year of relevant job-specific experience is required.
    • Note: Professional licensure or certification may substitute for education or experience when applicable.
Preferred Experience

Prior experience as a CNA, PCT, or in a bedside care role is highly desirable.
