Physical Therapist

Purpose: As a Physical Therapist at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, you will evaluate, treat, and educate patients with disabilities, traumatic injuries, pain, disease, or dysfunction. Your goal will be to help patients reach maximum performance and assume a place in their community.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Provide direct patient care services to ensure the effectiveness of physical therapy programs while adhering to safety policies and procedures.

2. Evaluate patients and establish an effective treatment plan to achieve set goals.

3. Provide physician-prescribed physical therapy treatment to all patients within the assigned caseload, to return the patient to optimum and productive levels within the patient's capabilities.

4. Prioritize caseloads and available treatment times to provide for maximum efficiency.

5. Improve or minimize residual physical disabilities of the patient by utilizing correct modalities of treatment and suggests variations.

6. Recognize contraindications to continuing with scheduled treatment and consult with responsible Physician.

7. Involve family or caregivers in treatment plan and discharge planning.

8. Interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age-specific needs.

9. Perform appropriate documentation to effectively communicate the patients' functional status to Physicians, insurance companies, the patient, their caregivers.

10. Consult with hospital personnel to provide for quality patient care and cost-efficient programming and provide patient/caregiver education for home exercise programs and to prepare for discharge.

Job Qualifications:
Education: Graduated from an accredited physical therapy school with a B.S. or M.S. degree.
Experience: New graduates welcome
License: New York State license or eligibility with temporary permit.

Work Shift: 8 hour days with 2 days at 8-4:30 and one at 10-6:30
