Research Scientist Intern, Perception

Meta is seeking highly motivated and talented individuals to join our Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) Perception teams as Research Scientist Interns. As a Research Scientist Intern, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research projects in perception, contributing to the advancement of artificial intelligence and its applications.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct research in perception, focusing on enabling learning from data, including images, video, 3D structures, text, and other modalities.
  • Collaborate with research mentors to brainstorm and develop novel solutions to challenging real-world research problems.
  • Implement prototypes, perform extensive experiments, and analyze results to test proposed solutions in meaningful benchmarks and metrics.
  • Contribute to ongoing research projects and impactful technology releases.
  • Draft and polish research publications, and present research outcomes to internal and/or external audiences.
Requirements
  • Currently pursuing or has a PhD degree in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a relevant technical field.
  • Research and/or work experience in Computer Vision, with a focus on recognition, 2D/3D localization, segmentation, and tracking of objects, people, and activities.
  • Research and/or work experience in Machine Learning or Deep Learning with applications to perception.
  • Proficiency in Python, C++, or other related languages.
  • Ability to obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven track record of achieving significant results in research, demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, and publications in top-tier conferences and workshops.
  • Demonstrated software engineer experience, including internships, work experience, coding competitions, or contributions to open-source repositories.
  • Experience advancing AI techniques, including contributions to open-source libraries and frameworks.
  • Experience manipulating and analyzing complex, large-scale, high-dimensional data from various sources.
  • Experience in utilizing theoretical and empirical research to solve problems.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment.
  • Intent to return to the degree program after the completion of the internship/co-op.
