Position Overview

Key Responsibilities
The Food Service Assistant will be responsible for a variety of essential tasks, including:
  • Preparation, assembly, and service of food items in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Operating dishwashing equipment and performing thorough cleaning duties while adhering to safety and sanitation protocols.
  • Transporting food, supplies, and equipment as required.
  • Potentially serving as a cashier in the cafeteria, managing cash register operations.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of assigned workstations.
  • Carrying out additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma preferred or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year preferred, with a background in retail food service being advantageous.
Credentials: Food Handlers Card - Alaska required.

Skills:
  • Strong customer service abilities.
  • Knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.

Working Conditions
Lifting Requirements:
Continuous movement throughout the work area is expected. Frequent lifting of up to 12 lbs and occasional lifting of up to 44 lbs may be required. The role involves frequent reaching, bending, and stooping, with occasional squatting and kneeling.

Environmental Conditions:
Tasks must be completed in a dynamic and sometimes noisy environment, with exposure to heated surfaces and liquids.

Mental/Visual Requirements:
Normal vision and hearing capabilities are necessary, and the ability to communicate effectively is essential.
