Job Description

Program Overview

The Grady Health System Nurse Residency program is a one-year, curriculum-based residency program designed to support the transition of novice nurses into professional nursing practice. The program is partnered with Vizient and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) and is designed to provide nurses with the knowledge, skills, and leadership abilities needed to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in a comprehensive orientation program to familiarize yourself with the hospital and nursing unit
  • Work closely with a trained preceptor to develop your clinical skills and knowledge
  • Attend interactive monthly classes to apply theoretical knowledge to real patient situations
  • Complete an evidence-based practice group project in the clinical setting
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and resources

Requirements

  • Must have an ADN, BSN, or MSN degree from an accredited school of nursing
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States as a Registered Nurse for the entire duration of the RN Residency Program
  • Must have a current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Health Care Provider Card
  • Must have successfully passed the NCLEX and received a GA Nursing License prior to the program start date

Additional Qualifications

  • Extended clinical experiences in critical care or emergency department areas
  • Specific courses in critical care or emergency department areas
