Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Machinist - Repair and Overhaul Shop to join our team at General Dynamics. As a key member of our maintenance and repair team, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating all tasks assigned within the shop, ensuring timely completion of projects and maintaining high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Task Coordination: Plan and schedule tasks to meet MRO schedules, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimizing downtime.
  2. Team Leadership: Lead and instruct shop personnel in proper procedures and techniques, promoting a culture of innovation and Lean thinking.
  3. Quality Control: Review work performed and ensure completion of applicable forms and records necessary for compliance with Repair Station regulatory requirements and Corporate Standards.
  4. Training and Development: Arrange technical training as required and ensure applicable PQL qualifications are kept current for subordinates.
  5. Performance Management: Provide input to performance appraisals to area management for review.
  6. Process Improvement: Identify and resolve gaps within processes to ensure continuity of operations within the framework of repair station requirements.
Requirements
  1. Leadership Experience: Must have demonstrated leadership ability and possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  2. Technical Knowledge: Ability to read and interpret all required maintenance and regulatory documents, with expertise in operating all tools, test equipment, and/or material handling equipment relevant to the area or responsibility.
  3. Education and Certifications: High School Diploma or GED required, with FAA A&P license or ability to obtain a repairman certificate within 30 days of start date.
  4. Industry Knowledge: Must have 7 years of experience in aircraft maintenance/aviation, with a strong understanding of shop math and proficiency in use of commercial and proprietary software packages and apps.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position with up to 25% travel required. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong focus on safety and quality.
