Job Title: Cost Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Accountant to join our team at Allan Myers. As a Cost Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the financial accuracy and integrity of our construction projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Compile, depict, and process financial information related to construction projects.
  • Provide financial insights and prepare relevant reports to support business decisions.
  • Assist in the generation and analysis of financial forecasts, including construction project revenue, margin, and cash flow.
  • Contribute to the preparation of profit and loss statements and accounting reports.
  • Prepare and enter accounting journal entries and assist in the monthly closing process of the general ledger.
  • Interpret the meaning of accounting and financial documents.
  • Document transactions and summarize information.
  • Modify, maintain, or create procedural documentation.
  • Participate in reconciliations and maintain data accuracy.
  • May audit contracts, orders, vouchers, and prepare reports to corroborate transactions prior to settlement.
  • May assist construction managers, project managers, and estimators with information requests and perform special projects as assigned.
  • Maintain awareness of accounting best practices and internal control procedures while assisting in the coordination and monitoring of compliance.
  • Assist the team in other ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 0-2 years of construction accounting experience.
  • Experience in a heavy/civil construction environment is a plus.
  • Familiarity with multiple software, including CMIC and Microsoft Office.
