Since 1995, BronxWorks has been actively involved in outreach efforts to assist the homeless population in the Bronx. Our dedicated outreach team operates around the clock to identify and engage individuals experiencing homelessness, connecting them with vital services to help end their homelessness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct compassionate and persistent outreach as part of a collaborative team.
- Establish rapport and trust with individuals experiencing chronic homelessness in the Bronx.
- Utilize agency vehicles for mobile outreach initiatives and client transportation.
- Assist licensed clinicians in providing mobile medical outreach services.
- Stay informed about available social services and resources within the agency and the community; provide appropriate referrals.
- Document all client interactions thoroughly.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
- This role requires availability for evening and weekend shifts to support 24/7 operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A valid driver's license is mandatory, held for a minimum of one year, with no more than three license violation points in the last three years.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills are preferred but not essential.
- Proficiency in computer usage, common office equipment, and basic typing skills is necessary.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
Physical Requirements:
- To ensure the safety of clients and colleagues, all new hires must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 (with valid medical exemptions considered) and provide proof prior to onboarding.
- Ability to use a computer for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 10 pounds may be required.
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for prolonged periods.
- Capability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
- Willingness to travel within the boroughs of New York City and adjacent counties using public transportation.
- Ability to travel a minimum of one mile in various weather conditions, including inclement weather, for home visits and fieldwork as needed.
- A TB test is required within the first 120 days of employment.
