Lifeguard Position

We are seeking a skilled and experienced lifeguard to join our team at the City of Poway's aquatic facility. As a lifeguard, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of pool patrons, performing rescues and first aid as needed, and enforcing pool policies and regulations.

• Act as lifeguard during pool hours and at all events held at the pool
• Administer minor first aid and perform rescues as needed
• Enforce pool policies and regulations
• Provide excellent customer service to pool patrons
• Perform routine pool area maintenance and repairs
• Assist in the supervision and preparation of the facility and amenities for patron use
• Lead and conduct diversified recreation activities, including swim lessons and water exercise

• Previous paid or volunteer experience as a lifeguard in a swimming pool or aquatic facility
• American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification or enrollment in a certification course
• Current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification or enrollment in a certification course
• Valid class C driver's license or ability to arrange alternate and timely means of transportation
• Ability to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Lifeguards may be required to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to chlorine, acids, and other chemicals. They must be able to lift children and adults in and out of the pool, and perform other physical demands of the job.
