We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team at the Cardiovascular Institute of the South. As a Float LPN, you will provide high-quality patient care in support of our cardiovascular physicians and medical personnel.
Key Responsibilities- Triage patients and assess emergency cases, documenting medication lists, allergies, vital signs, and patient complaints in the electronic medical record.
- Remain available for physicians and assist with patient care, reviewing and completing orders, administering injections, and scheduling tests.
- Create and maintain accurate electronic documentation, including patient medication lists, allergies, chart notes, and phone call documentation.
- Respond to phone calls from pharmacies, patients, physician offices, and home health agencies.
- Perform blood work and assist with Coumadin clinics as needed.
- Explain diagnostic procedures to patients and provide education as required.
- Interrogate pacemakers and defibrillators and assist with pacemaker clinics.
- Assist with staff alert cards, insurance pre-certifications, and medical supply ordering.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Keep work areas neat and organized, reporting safety issues to team leaders.
- Work efficiently, managing time wisely and assisting other employees when duties are complete.
- Communicate problems, difficulties, or concerns regarding job duties to team leaders.
- Perform duties without significant error, meeting deadlines and timeframes for completion of assignments.
- Represent the Cardiovascular Institute of the South in a professional manner at all times.
- Exhibit good communication skills with physicians, patients, team leaders, and coworkers.
- Work cooperatively with other employees to achieve optimum care for patients and standards of care set forth by the CIS medical staff.
- Adhere to the CIS Compliance Plan, maintaining confidentiality according to HIPAA standards.
- High school diploma.
- LPN license in the state of Louisiana.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification optional.
- Ability to travel to other CIS clinics when necessary.
