About this RoleThe Registered Nurse (RN) is an integral member of the Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) healthcare team, upholding the organization's mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives to provide exceptional patient-centered care. As a professional nurse, you will practice within the legal and ethical framework established by the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Scope and Standards for Nursing Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the YNHHS Professional Practice Model.
Key Responsibilities- Establishing Therapeutic Relationships: Develop and maintain trusting relationships with patients and families, incorporating cultural sensitivity and awareness into practice.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to deliver high-quality care.
- Patient-Centered Care: Prioritize patients' values, preferences, and needs in holistic data collection, outcome formulation, and evaluation.
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within one month of hire.
- Registered Nurse is the foundational job description for all RNs; advancement opportunities are available through the SPIRE clinical advancement program.

Work EnvironmentThis position requires rotating shifts, including weekends and call obligations. The work environment may involve exposure to infectious diseases, physical, mental, and emotional illness, and end-of-life conditions. Moderate stress and risk of injury from patient care are possible.
