Job Summary

Mid-America Orthopedics is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing on-site management of the DME program, ensuring seamless delivery of orthopedic DME products to patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Education and Training: Provide comprehensive education to patients on the application, use, care, and expected outcome for orthopedic DME products, as indicated by physician instructions and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Insurance and Financial Management: Educate patients on insurance plans and provisions, financial responsibility, and collection of patient portion.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Ensure that all necessary documentation is obtained as it relates to payer requirements, standard operating procedures, and the Mid-America Orthopedics DME program.
  • Customer Service and Scheduling: Perform patient/customer scheduling, education, order processing, delivery, and courtesy call back.
  • Inventory Management: Track, maintain, and order DME for the location, including inventory and equipment.
  • Site Profitability: Manage site profitability and negotiate with distributors for cost savings.
  • Operational Manual: Develop and maintain site-specific operational manual.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Foster good relations interdepartmentally and with external case managers, payers, suppliers, physicians, and clinical and surgery center personnel.
Requirements
  • Certifications and Licenses: Certified and licensed athletic trainer, with 2-3 years of experience in athletic training.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with DMEPOS systems, ability to utilize practice scheduling, HER, Outlook, and other computer systems.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills, with ability to maintain certifications and licensures at all times.
