Position Overview:

At Norfolk Crush, we are dedicated to transforming 110,000 bushels of soybeans each day into high-quality soybean oil, meal, and hull pellets. As a key operator, you will manage both the physical and computerized aspects of our facility. This role involves monitoring material flow and upholding stringent quality standards throughout the production process. Operators will progress through nine levels, starting at level 1A, with opportunities for pay increases and qualifications assessed biannually.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations to meet production goals while effectively communicating maintenance needs.
  • Ensure quality standards are consistently achieved and assist in project design and execution.
  • Provide detailed operational insights, including inventory management and product quality assessments.
  • Monitor all plant processes, including field measurements and safety device functionality.
  • Guide and mentor fellow operators to foster a culture of safety and efficiency.
  • Report any operational or technical challenges to plant leadership, including mechanical issues.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO quality standards in collaboration with the Quality Assurance team.
  • Implement and uphold a sanitary schedule that meets plant standards.
  • Advise management on staffing and operational needs that may impact production.
  • Promote a team-oriented environment that values customer service, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with the Safety Director to ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field is preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in food, feed, or chemical processing.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a focus on training and performance management.
  • Availability to assist during off-shift hours and during scheduled shutdowns.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, across various levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting across different departments and shifts.
  • Solid understanding of quality specifications and data collection techniques.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to support maintenance activities as required.
  • Proficient computer skills are essential.

Working Conditions:
