Job Summary
The Medical Assistant - Clinical Support will provide clinical and clerical support to the healthcare team at SIU HealthCare. This role will ensure the delivery of quality and efficient healthcare services to patients under the direction of licensed healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform clinical duties, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and assisting with procedures.
- Enter orders into the electronic health record system and manage inventory and supplies.
- Stock and rotate supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Assist with administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments and registering patients.
- Notify patients of normal test results and refer patients to nurses for further questions.
- Perform waived lab testing, collect and prepare lab specimens, and assist with EKGs and other procedures.
- Document patient information and maintain accurate records.
- Perform other duties as assigned by licensed healthcare professionals.
Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Current/valid medical assistant certification (CMA, NCMA, CCMA, or RMA).
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
Working Conditions
This role requires working in a healthcare setting, which may involve exposure to infectious diseases and other health risks. The Medical Assistant - Clinical Support must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods.
