About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate CRNA to join our team at Duke Raleigh Hospital. As a CRNA, you will be responsible for administering anesthetics to patients undergoing surgical, obstetrical, and other medical procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer general anesthetics to patients, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the procedure.
  • Determine the necessary drugs, supplies, and equipment for each procedure, and assemble and test the gas machine to ensure proper functioning.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs during the procedure and take necessary action to maintain a stable physiological status.
  • Prepare patients for anesthesia, explaining the procedure and positioning them on the operating room table.
  • Record patients' conditions and the type of anesthetic used on their charts.
  • Assist in moving patients from the operating room to the recovery area and check on them periodically to alleviate any unfavorable post-anesthesia effects.
  • Supervise and instruct student nurse anesthetists and assist in evaluating their clinical performance and progress.
  • Disassemble equipment and clean the work area, reporting any necessary repairs or adjustments to the proper personnel.
  • Maintain records of each anesthetic administered and prepare periodic reports related to activities.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited MSN or DNP or DNAP CNRA program.
  • CRNA certification.
  • Eligibility for certification by the AANA as a certified Nurse Anesthetist.
  • Current RN licensure issued by or recognized by NCBON with approval to practice as a CRNA.
