Job Description

This is a challenging role for a skilled Field Service Engineer to provide exceptional technical support, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance for advanced lighting control systems.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a customer-oriented mindset. They will work closely with clients to ensure that our state-of-the-art lighting solutions are operating efficiently and that customer satisfaction is achieved through exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Installation & Commissioning:
  • Perform on-site installation and configuration of lighting control systems, ensuring proper integration with electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Commission and test lighting controls to verify system functionality according to design specifications and client requirements.
  • Technical Support & Troubleshooting:
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues with lighting control systems, including hardware, software, and network-related problems.
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting for lighting, dimming, shading, and control systems.
  • Offer remote and on-site technical support to resolve customer issues in a timely manner.
  • Customer Training & Support:
  • Deliver training to clients and contractors on the operation, functionality, and maintenance of the installed lighting control systems.
  • Ensure clients are comfortable with system usage, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance.
  • Maintenance & Repairs:
  • Perform regular maintenance, inspections, and repairs to ensure long-term reliability of the lighting control systems.
  • Manage replacement of system components, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain detailed records of service activities, including installations, troubleshooting steps, repairs, and customer communications.
  • Generate service reports for internal use and client review.
  • Client Relationship Management:
  • Build strong relationships with clients to understand their needs and expectations, delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Provide recommendations for system upgrades, improvements, and additional services.
  • Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the sales, project management, and technical teams to ensure seamless project delivery and high-quality service.
  • Communicate with technical support and engineering teams to address complex issues and develop solutions.

The estimated salary for this role is $90,000 per year, based on industry standards and location.

Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Bachelor's degree, technical diploma or military experience in Electrical Systems, Electronics, Automation, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of field service experience in lighting control, building automation, or electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of lighting control systems, electrical circuits, and networking principles preferred.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with experience in diagnosing hardware, software, and networking issues.
  • Ability to work independently and travel frequently to client sites.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to work flexible hours.
Preferred Skills:

The following skills are highly desirable:

  • Experience with Lutron systems, shading solutions, and integration with smart building technologies.
  • Proficiency in programming and configuring lighting control systems (Lutron, Crestron, etc.).
  • Familiarity with low-voltage wiring, networking, and control protocols such as DMX, DALI, or BACnet.
