About the Role

Erie Neighborhood House is seeking a skilled Child Development Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for implementing a comprehensive School Age Program that provides direct service to children in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Job Summary

The Child Development Specialist will work under the supervision of the School Age Site Director to develop and implement program activities that promote the social, emotional, and cognitive development of children aged 5-12. This role requires a high level of creativity, flexibility, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe and nurturing environment that fosters positive relationships among children and staff.
  • Develop and implement engaging program activities that align with the interests and needs of children.
  • Collaborate with the Site Director to plan and deliver curriculum that promotes child development and learning.
  • Actively participate in bi-weekly curriculum planning meetings and weekly staffing to ensure effective implementation of individualized recommendations for each child.
  • Maintain accurate records of child attendance, behavior, and progress.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless transitions and collaborative support.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance knowledge and skills in child development and program management.
  • Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to child safety and well-being.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with children aged 5-12 in a school-age setting.
  • Strong understanding of child development theories and principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and move quickly to respond to emergencies.
  • Familiarity with National Accreditation standards and procedures.
