Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Legal Housing Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will work under the direction of our Executive Director and Director of Legal Services to provide critical legal support to our clients. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.

Responsibilities:
As a Legal Housing Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include:
  1. Court Representation: Provide representation to clients in various courts, including state and federal courts, as well as administrative proceedings.
  2. Client Intake: Conduct thorough intake sessions with clients, ensuring that all necessary information is collected and documented.
  3. Case Management: Manage client cases effectively, including preparing pleadings, collecting and tracking documents, and drafting correspondence to clients and government agencies.
  4. Collaboration: Work closely with other staff members to advise on and facilitate the execution of programmatic and operational initiatives.

Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you must possess:
  • A J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to practice law in Michigan.
  • 1-5 years of experience practicing law, preferably in housing law and civil litigation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • A self-motivated and independent work style.
  • Ability to evaluate evidence and apply legal standards to factual situations.
