Job Summary

Freeport-McMoRan is seeking a skilled Mill Electrician to join our team at our Climax Mine in Leadville, Colorado. As a Mill Electrician, you will be responsible for safely maintaining, installing, repairing, and troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment in support of our mill/processing site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Removal, repair, and installation of electrical systems and components within the mill, leach area, packing area, boiler room, reagent area, acid house, general mill, conveyor equipment, air, water, and power line systems
  • Perform equipment electrical analysis and diagnosis, advanced troubleshooting, and systems/process optimization
  • Work on switchgear and distribution, including grounding, LOTOTO procedures, and use of jumper forms
  • Perform preventative maintenance, including checking motors, checking for ground loops, metering electrical circuits, calibrating equipment, and completing additional checks
  • Review, revise, and create SOPs
  • Perform NRC conduit bending and fastening: conduit, cable tray, grounds, boxes, and calculating loads and feeder sizes
  • Train and mentor other Electrical department employees on proper testing of PPE, proper audit of Mill site, preventative maintenance, product flow and priorities, new electrical installation, print reading, and other relevant topics
  • Act as Fill-in Supervisor as needed
  • May be required to use mobile equipment, such as forklifts, light-duty vehicles, bucket trucks, and high-lift trucks
  • Perform other duties as required
Requirements
  • Completion of an approved Certified Electronics, Electrical, and/or Instrumentation program, OR
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in Industrial Electrical and/or Instrumentation repair and maintenance, OR
  • Associate's degree or Trade School Certification in a related field and two (2) years of experience in Industrial Electrical and/or Instrumentation repair and maintenance
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD drawings/prints and electronic prints
  • Knowledge of proper SOPs
  • Must have completed academic and practical competencies required and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Experience with VFDs, PLC, HMI, and/or SCADA Control Systems
  • Experience working with low and medium voltages
  • Experience with AC and/or DC controls
  • Experience with instrumentation devices
  • Experience with diagnostic electrical test equipment
  • Experience with HVAC equipment
What We Offer

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $31.00 - $42.50/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits, or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills, and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
