K9s For Warriors Inc, a leading provider of service dogs to veterans, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Lead K9 Caretaker to oversee the daily operations of the kennels.
Key Responsibilities- Provide guidance and direction to the kennel staff, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Ensure the accuracy and adherence to safety protocols for animal handling and cleaning chemicals.
- Monitor and address dog behavior and health concerns in accordance with company guidelines and best practices.
- Participate in enrichment activities to promote the mental and physical well-being of the dogs.
- Maintain accurate records and reports, including kennel and enrichment logs.
- Collaborate with the veterinary staff to assist in medicating and caring for the dogs.
- Handle dogs humanely and safely, ensuring all staff and volunteers follow the same protocols.
- Report maintenance concerns and assist with the distribution of supplies and ordering.
- Contribute to the maintenance of buildings and equipment, including interior and exterior spaces, grounds, and yard maintenance.
- Assist in the onboarding and training of new kennel department hires and volunteers.
- Respond to the operational needs of the kennel as directed by management.
- Adhere to and promote all company policies and procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of the dogs and present suggestions to management.
- Supervise and train volunteers, verifying shift duties and processes are being followed.
- High school diploma or equivalent

- Ability to exert moderate to extensive physical effort, including bending, twisting, turning, crouching, walking stairs, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds individually.
