Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to join our team in the Pan Lab at the Virginia Tech Fralin Biomedical Research Institute. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the conduct of research studies, including animal husbandry, laboratory management, and data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the conduct of research studies, including animal husbandry and laboratory management
  • Conduct experiments and collect data as needed
  • Analyze and interpret data
  • Prepare and maintain laboratory records and reports
  • Assist in the development and implementation of research protocols

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, neuroscience, or related field
  • Research experience in an academic or laboratory setting
  • Ability to organize and analyze experimental data
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrate solid detail orientation skills
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team
  • Comfortable working with animals

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with one or more of the following laboratory techniques: PCR, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, and fluorescent imaging
