We are currently seeking a Rail Loader to join our Vancouver facility. This role requires full-time outdoor work, a valid Driver's License, and proficiency in driving a Manual Transmission vehicle. The position is physically demanding, involving tasks such as navigating tight spaces, climbing ladders, and lifting heavy equipment. The standard work schedule is Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with potential for overtime during the week and on weekends based on operational needs.

Position Summary:

The Rail Loader is responsible for the safe and efficient loading and unloading of vehicles onto rail cars. This overview highlights key responsibilities but is not exhaustive of all tasks involved.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare rail cars for loading by:
  • Opening and closing rail car doors
  • Adjusting rail car decks
  • Operating loading ramps for safe vehicle entry
  • Setting bridge plates securely
• Transport vehicles onto rail cars by:
  • Inspecting vehicles for any damage
  • Reporting any issues to supervisors
  • Driving vehicles onto rail cars from staging areas safely
• Secure vehicles within rail cars by:
  • Applying necessary chains or chocks for security
  • Conducting checks to ensure proper loading
• Assist with various duties to support team operations by:
  • Complying with all safety standards
  • Training new and temporary staff as needed

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions
• Commitment to maintaining high-quality standards
• Strong visual acuity
• Familiarity with hand tools (e.g., wrenches, screwdrivers)
• Good balance and physical fitness
• Capability to work at heights of approximately 15 feet
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds overhead
• Capacity to push, pull, or carry loads up to 85 pounds
• Must pass safety quizzes with a minimum score of 80%
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Minimum of 6 months of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in a collaborative work environment
