Job SummaryThe Minibus Driver is responsible for safely transporting YMCA participants to and from programs, while ensuring a positive and engaging experience for all riders. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure the safety of all passengers through regular vehicle inspections and adherence to transportation policies.
- Greet participants in a friendly and professional manner, creating a welcoming atmosphere for all.
- Maintain accurate transportation records, including route schedules and passenger manifests.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of minibuses or vans, adhering to YMCA standards.
- Report any issues or concerns to supervisors in a timely and professional manner.
- Develop and implement transportation routes, seating assignments, and other logistical arrangements to ensure efficient and safe transportation.
- Collaborate with program staff to implement program enhancements and improve the overall participant experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be at least 21 years old and hold a valid driver's license in their current state of residence.
- Must be approved as a YMCA Driver through annual motor vehicle record checks and up-to-date training.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member, demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Mature individual with good moral character and integrity, able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to work with children, adults, and colleagues at all levels.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule with irregular work hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit for long periods, including on the floor.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
- Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.
- Must be able to lift and carry food and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
- Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
- Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
