  • OVERVIEW
    • The MRI Imaging Technologist collaborates with departmental leadership and radiologists to uphold and enhance exceptional standards for imaging quality and patient safety. This role involves operating magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machinery to generate diagnostic images of the human body. The position reports directly to the leadership of the department.
  • KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Conducts and assists in MRI examinations and procedures under the supervision of a Radiologist, producing images essential for medical diagnosis to identify injuries, foreign objects, pathological conditions, or lesions within the body.
    • Adheres to established protocols, policies, and regulations to ensure patient safety and maintain a secure working environment across modalities.
    • Provides imaging services to support inpatient, Emergency Department (ED), and outpatient needs, with the capability to perform specialized imaging procedures (such as abnormal anatomy, congenital cardiac, and fetal imaging).
    • Collaborates with the Sedation and Anesthesia departments to ensure timely execution of urgent examinations.
    • Assists in the orientation and training of staff, students, and new employees regarding safety protocols, patient preparation, job responsibilities, and correct procedures.
    • Fosters a welcoming work atmosphere for all staff while effectively communicating with various personnel and departments.
    • Ensures customer satisfaction (including interdepartmental, community, and patient/family) with imaging services.
    • Evaluates MRI images for technical quality and accuracy.
    • Maintains and oversees MRI zoning to guarantee safety for both staff and patients.
    • Seeks management guidance for any unusual situations that may require deviation from established operational policies and standards.
    • Supports the onboarding and training of new team members within the MRI modality.
    • Provides lead MRI Technologist coverage as trained and designated.
    • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
    • Mandatory Certifications
      • Certification as a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required upon hire.
      • Registered Technologist (R.T.) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required upon hire.
      • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training is required at the time of hire or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    • Required Education and Experience
      • Completion of a program and/or training from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology is required.
      • A minimum of one year of experience in a Radiology and/or Diagnostic modality is required.
    • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
      • Proficiency in MRI principles and procedures, as well as the operation and maintenance of MRI scanners, is required.
      • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, clinical staff, multiple departments, and diverse individuals.
      • Demonstrates analytical skills necessary to determine the best method for providing requested radiographs based on individual cases and fundamental technical principles, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
      • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a dynamic environment.
      • Strong organizational and critical thinking skills, with a keen attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT
    • Individuals in this role perform Laboratory, Radiological, Diagnostic, or Imaging procedures in a healthcare setting, with moderate exposure to potential hazards such as noise, dust, odors, or temperature extremes. There is a risk of exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, hazardous materials, radiation, and other conditions typical in healthcare environments. Adhering to safety and health protocols minimizes the risk of personal injury.
