Job Title: Senior Engineering Technician

Join the City of Concord New Hampshire Engineering Division as a Senior Engineering Technician and contribute to the development of municipal engineering projects. As a key member of our team, you will oversee the activities of engineering technicians and engage in work associated with municipal engineering projects and design.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of engineering technicians
  • Engage in work associated with municipal engineering projects and design
  • Oversee the projects' progress and provide technical expertise
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with city policies, procedures, and applicable laws
  • Plan, allocate, and monitor time, people, equipment, and other resources for the division
  • Perform work in designing highway projects, checking calculations for accuracy, and assisting with the design of intersections
  • Perform work in the area of storm and sanitary sewer design, sizing storm pipes and culverts
  • Draft plan revisions and construction details and make detailed engineering drawings
  • Assist the public by providing them with plans of civil engineering and road projects and answering questions
  • Attend meetings with consultants and property owners on issues concerning a variety of engineering projects
  • Maintain records and research files using computer software
  • Review plans to insure the consistency, accuracy, and economical design related to city codes, water and sewer standards, and specifications
  • Compose specialized engineering agreements and construction contracts for specific projects and specialty annual contracts
  • Provide traffic data collection and interpretation, defining property boundaries, zoning lines
  • Perform special assignments as requested, to include researching and preparing reports and projects, developing and implementing programs, and presenting technical data to management, elected officials, and others
  • Write detailed or technical reports of all findings, conclusions, and recommendations based on a thorough analysis and interpretation of data for presentation to others
  • Identify and develop potential sources of supplies, materials, equipment, and services that are capable of providing appropriate quality at appropriate prices
  • Create and design plans and specifications, using all available sources of background information, for a project or program to meet the needs of the City and/or Department
  • Interpret construction plans and right-of-way plans for the public
  • May assist in the direction of the activities of the city survey crew
  • May represent the department at development, interdepartmental, departmental, or other meetings as requested
  • Maintain construction cost estimates and expenditures records
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
  • Four to six years of progressively responsible related experience
  • Valid Driver's License
