Role Summary:
Sovah Martinsville is looking for a PRN Registered Respiratory Therapist to assess and treat patients with respiratory issues. This role involves collaborating with physicians to create and execute effective treatment plans. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting diagnostic tests and measuring lung function.
- Administering prescribed therapies and monitoring patient responses.
- Evaluating respiratory care protocols based on patient outcomes and research.
- Responding to emergency situations and providing necessary interventions.
- Educating patients and families about respiratory conditions and available resources.
- Managing respiratory supplies and ensuring equipment is properly maintained.
- Performing routine cleaning and calibration of medical devices.
- Delivering advanced respiratory therapies and monitoring patients on mechanical ventilation.
- Assisting in emergency response situations, including airway management.
- Providing training and guidance to staff and patients on equipment usage.
- Participating in quality assurance initiatives within the department.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care Program with an A.A.S. degree or equivalent.
Essential Skills:
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work independently in high-pressure environments.
- Physical capability to handle patient care tasks, including lifting and moving patients.
Certifications Required:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in Virginia.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification.
Experience:
- Minimum of one year in critical care settings, including experience with mechanical ventilation and patient assessments.
- One year of general respiratory care experience is also required.
